Intro to.... Postponing?!
We had initially planned to meet up again sometime last week, the goal was to meet again after school, record any shots we feel to have redone, and edit it all together. However, we had failed to account that 2 of the 3 group members had Mock Trial competition: Yaz and I. It was competition week and we had been put through the peak of our Mock Trial commitment; waking up at around 7 in the morning to come back home at around 11 in the evening. As I've stated before in my blog introducing my team members, Yaz and I do both Court, and Debate, and while it is loads of fun, it can also prove quite challenging to incorporate with everything else I'm responsible for. So this production blog is about our improvisations from roadblocks in our plan, rather than the steps taken to complete it. For Yaz and I, we had finished competition last week. However, Mock Trial has 2 teams: Online, and Chicago. In online, we competed through a Zoom call, where as in Chicago, we actually get to travel there and compete in person at Chicago. Yaz ended her practice now that she's done competing, however I still have practice as I am also in the Chicago team competing next week, though it's much easier to manage as the role I play for the Chiacgo team is a Timekeeper, rather than a Witness or Attorney. In Mock Trial, there are 2 roles in the round: There are witnesses, who portray the role of those involved in the case or analyzing the case as "Certified Experts", or Attorneys, who take it upon themselves to demonstrate all of the evidence to the Jury through the Witnesses. However there is also a Timekeeper role, each team has 1 Timekeeper, who tracks how long every aspect of this trial takes. This is important as each team only has 55 minutes to go through Opening Statements, 3 Direct Examinations, 3 Cross Examinations, and a Closing argument. The Timekeeper's job may be simple, but is very essential to the team's success. So although I still am practicing with my team and going to leave on the 19th to go and compete, I don't have to memorize information and lines or study Case Law, but rather be punctaul and communicate effectively with my team on their time left. Because of this, We are able to work through this roadblock without having to postpone again and can achieve a compromise of sorts. I believe us all to be ready for completing this commercial in its entirety on schedule, though one never knows what life can throw its way. I hope whoever may read this feels as though they connect with this Highschooler's problem of scheduling and means of overcoming it.
I'll see you all in the next one:)
Me and my fellow Online Witness, Kai, who kept me sane throughout trial
