Intro to.... Editing!

Image
Now after shooting what we had needed, came a very vital part: the editing process. The way our group settled it, there were 3 important parts: the first 3 scenes, the last 3 scenes, and the music meant to play across it all. The first 3 scenes are important but not grouped with the last 3 as these 3 scenes display the awkwardness we went for being portrayed (for the record the scenes i am referring to are those of the storyboard). The last 3 scenes similarly yet in an opposite sense at the same time are important individual aspect because they portray the happiness and uniting portion of our advertisement. Finally, the music chosen throughout the advertisement is essential because as this advertisement has no dialect, the soundtrack selected will be what is used to demonstrate tone and shifts in moods audibly. To distribute the work we had decided Yaz will be in charge of the soundtrack, Lux will be assigned with the first 3 scenes, and I shall be tasked with the final 3 scenes.

Intro to.... Postponing?!

We had initially planned to meet up again sometime last week, the goal was to meet again  after school, record any shots we feel to have redone, and edit it all together. However, we had failed to account that 2 of the 3 group members had Mock Trial competition: Yaz and I. It was competition week and we had been put through the peak of our Mock Trial commitment; waking up at around 7 in the morning to come back home at around 11 in the evening. As I've stated before in my blog introducing my team members, Yaz and I do both Court, and Debate, and while it is loads of fun, it can also prove quite challenging to incorporate with everything else I'm responsible for. So this production blog is about our improvisations from roadblocks in our plan, rather than the steps taken to complete it. For Yaz and I, we had finished competition last week. However, Mock Trial has 2 teams: Online, and Chicago. In online, we competed through a Zoom call, where as in Chicago, we actually get t

Props:  My group decided to film a commercial advertising Extra gum, so the gum will be our main prop. In the commercial, we are planning on having the gum bring together to photography students, so we will also need a digital camera and phones for the project portion, and a skateboard to add character to one of the actors. We will also have a boba drink in the opening scene to show the actor got a drink while waiting for a text.  Costume: Our commercial will feature two high school photography students, so the costumes will need to represent casual, high school attire. The actors will be wearing jeans/khakis with casual t-shirts or sweaters. Sneakers will also be worn by the actors to further the casual look. Schedule: On September 27, 2022 we researched gum commercials to get inspiration and ideas. On September 29, 2022 we began planning our commercial and discussed props, costume, schedule, set, location, and a backup plan.  On October 3, 2022 we will create and finalize a storyboar

Intro to... Storyboard!

First Scene - During the first scene, we will be filming Person A’s (Lux) phone. On the phone, a thread of text messages from a photography teacher will be displayed. The shot will be from an over the shoulder angle as it is being used to share the information the person in the film is reading with the audience. The text messages will describe the location of which person A (Lux) must meet with person B (Andres) in order to complete a photography project. It will give instructions on what actions they must take. Second scene - In the second scene, we will be filming at the location of which the two characters were instructed to meet - the location being the corner of a street. The camera will be placed to show the corner of the walls on the street, filming person A (Lux) from a medium long shot. Person A (Lux) will then look up from their phone, as they just finished reading the text message, and turn their head to look around the corner. As they turn their head, the camera will track
