New Word: Decision

Image
After all of our research, my group and I decided on the mystery genre. Our group decided to choose this genre due to the conventions of this genre matching our vision of the short film. Mis en scene such as normal settings, like a living room, and light makeup fit our project the best. This would help us convey a false sense of tranquility that is needed in our film. Editing common in mysteries, such as flashbacks, would also be the best fit for our film. This would help us execute the plot twist in a simple and more comprehensible manner. The use of close-ups also fits our film, as we’re going to have to show the emotions of our characters. Overall, the mystery genre would help us encompass a feeling of suspense and unease throughout our film. The horror genre was close in our consideration, but it didn’t quite fit. The dark lighting and suspenseful music that is typically found in horror would work in our film. However, we didn’t see our film using creepy settings or gory makeup.

New Word: Pitch

Image
Pitch A: Jack lives a happy life, but his persistent migraines and flashbacks leads him to realize he's been in a coma from a drunk driving accident. Pitch B: Alex, who thought his life was a perfect fairytale, realizes that a single song has allowed him to escape the reality of his abusive household. The first pitch interested us because we thought the idea would be fun to execute and that it would creatively challenge us. To create this film we would have to find a way to incorporate complicated scenes, like a car crash, with the limited resources we have available to us. However, as a group, we all got together and discussed the practicality of each scene we wanted to film and also discussed alternatives we could use if a scene din't come out as we planned. This yielded successful results and we were all confident that we could make this film come to life. Another reason we liked this pitch was because we knew we could have a cohesive beginning, middle, and end that told a

New Word: Team

Image
This blogs word is team, so it only figures i talk about my team for this project! As this will be my biggest project yet, I decided to work with the maximum amount of people I'm permitted, and will be in a group of 4 . My 3 partners for this project will be Yaz, Marvin, and Kyra. I like my group as it's all people I know and get along with, but also people I trust to be able to get the job done. I met Yaz when I was in preschool, a little over 12 years ago now! We've gone to the same Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and High School, but I don't think that patter will continue for college, but one can hope! Yaz used to do Debate with me, but then she found out how talented she was at doing Mock Trial and now she's the Captain of it, which is really cool. The other Captain of Mock Trial however, is also in my group! His name is Marvin, and I met him at the start of Highschool but I only really got to know him last year. This year though, Marvin's one of my best fr

New Word: Updates

Welcome back everyone! It's been quiet a while since the last time we spoke, and there's a few changes since, so lets catch you all up to speed. "Santa" is still a nickname i hear on a daily basis, and still a name I've grown to love more and more. I still do Debate, now being the captain of my event, Public Forum, though I'm not active in Mock Trial anymore, I leave that to my friend Yaz, who those who read my first blogs know she's one of my best friends for over 13 years. Funny enough Yaz is also the Mock Trial captain, and my group mate for this project but i'll go more into that in my next blog. Mr. Kulawik is still our coach and he's still working just as hard to make sure the team is successful. It's only the start of the Debate season, but I've already been a Semifinalist at a tournament in the National Circuit, so I'm hopeful about achieving my goal of getting 1st at one of these high level tournaments. I'm now a Junio
