a lot of... hanging out!

Welcome back! As I’ve mentioned in my blogs talking about me specifically, I do debate. And last Saturday I had a debate competition called the SFCFL, or the South Florida Catholic Forensic League. Traditionally at these CFL’s the tournaments last for most of the day, meaning I’m leaving home early and getting home late. However, this tournament was located at JP Taravella Highschool, a Highschool that is conveniently less than 2 minutes away from my house, so I decided we could have some fun after the Tournament. I had invited my debate partner Brianna, and my 4 friends who were also competing that day Zack, Kayla, Yaz, and Chris. For those who have read my previous blogs, you might recognize Yaz as she was my previous partner for past media projects. In any case I invited them to come over to my house after the tournament and to hang out at my pool. Along with the 5 people I mentioned, I naturally also invited Lauren, even if she wasn’t competing, she lives too close NOT to invite her to group plans, especially nearby my house. While at my house, I decided to use this opportunity to record a few shots. I had Zack and Kayla take turns recording shots of me and Lauren as we were the primary actors in our music video. I took some shots by our park, where there's a public gym and kids park to play around with. Around my house is a lot of open land as I live quite close to the Everglades, so I had a lot of space to play around with and record. Eventually it got dark and while I tried, I couldn’t get any successful shots of us as the lighting just wasn’t enough. After recording we all stayed at the park for a little while and did a relay race with the boys between the girls. The boys won and we celebrated all the way home. Once we arrived home, I compiled all the shots I took, and I took a look at what I was able to come up with. If I’m being quite honest, I didn’t really like some of the shots, but some of them I did. But regardless of the shots it was a really fun day, and we all bonded a little more. As for the CFL, Brianna and I actually placed 6th out of the 30 teams that competed in our event, winning 4 out of the 5 rounds in the tournament, and Zack and Kayla got 2nd! Overall, it was a fun, rewarding, memorable, and productive day! I hope my viewers feel more connected to how this very clearly nerdy Highschooler has fun with debate friends: by competing and doing media work!

I’ll see you all in the next one:)
