Guess who's back... back again....

     Santa's back, tell a friend. Welcome back everyone, for those who might not have read my lovely blogs of my previous projects, I'm Andres Santana, but i've come to love the nickname, "Santa". Santa was a nickname given to me by one of my best friends Mia, as she thought my last name actually said Santa, and since then has been calling me Santa. I love Santa because aside from it's creative and funny origin, it feels as though my official Debate name. For context I primarily focus on 2 things: Debate and Mock Trial. In Debate is where I met Mia, and last year I was a freshman in High school when she gave me that nickname, so now as a sophomore and Debate Varsity, all of my 1st year debaters that I help teach call me Santa too. Santa is my debate name and i'll always see it that way. But Even in my Mock Trial Team i've begun to get the name Santa attached. Speaking of Mock Trial, it's another one of the biggest aspects of my life. Since joining the team I've been able to travel across the country and even go to Chicago where we competed at and Internationally ranked tournament and got 3rd in the entire world! Our Mock Trial team is one of the most successful ones of every high school mock team, with us hosting our very own Tournament this year and so far going undefeated in our ongoing journey to Nationals. Mock Trial and Debate are my favorite 2 things to do in terms of extra circular activities. In Debate we have are Coach Mr.Kulawik, who began coaching the same year I began competing. Mr. Kulawik truly does put in the effort to make sure our team is consistently going and competing and winning and I feel as though the team grows together as we all are doing this for the first time now. In Mock Trial however, we have 3 different lawyers who help our team, Jennito and Gabbi, who primarily handle our practices, and Mr. Katz, who leads the team and is the reason we all are where we are today. I have also had Mr.Katz since I began high school and see him as a mentor. As a lawyer he can be tough but he is fair, however as our Magnet Coordinator and a leader he pushes his students to the potential that he sees in them. In part Mr. Katz was the reason I wanted to join the Mock Trial team in the first place and it's a decision I do not regret. By my final year of Highschool I hope to achieve 2 goals: To go Undefeated and get 1st place at a prestigious Debate competition, and to earn a Best Attorney award a prestigious Mock Trial competition. I feel as though with the help of my team both in Mock Trial and Debate, i can achieve these goals. However in regards to Media, I cannot wait to begin this project, I have so many creative ideas and visions and I only hope to be able to execute them well. That's all for this blog and I hope my readers feel a little more knowledgeable on this High schoolers goals and Ambitions in his 2 favorite events.

Short film research: (Buried Treasure/Mystery)

    Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!. I am continuing to research short films and their conventions. I am reviewing short films that follow my genre to learn about conventions I would need to use for my short film. As the genre I am using is mystery, I am going to be watching mystery short films. In this blog I am going to research the mystery short film, “Buried Treasure”. I was able to find this short film option on YouTube.       When the film opens, the music is the first thing once again that I notice. This music is different though from the last movie I reviewed. The difference was that this music got louder progressively as the opening of the short film continued. The lighting is the same though. I notice the dark lighting. The dark lighting creates a very deep shadow and puts spotlights on certain aspects. This goes back to the point convention I’ve noticed in mystery films which is having the audience very focused on the little details....

Say hello to my little friends!

 Welcome back! In todays blog I plan to introduce you to the next 3 members you'll hear about till the end of our journey on this project, so lets get into it! For this project I realized that it would be our most ambitious one yet, so I decided to work with 4 people instead of 2 or 3. For those of you who've read my previous blogs, you'll remember Lauren, as she worked with me on my previous project too. Lauren and I worked exceptionally well together, so we decided to keep the ball rolling and tackle this on too. We could not do it alone however, so we added 2 new additions to our team, Franshesca and Isa. Starting with Isa, she's also on the debate team and is good friends with Lauren and I, so given that we all shared the same Media period together and already had good chemistry, she'll be a great pick for our team. New Word: Plan

  And the planning begins! Hey guys and welcome back to my blog! The last time you read I was researching for my short film. My group and I were doing things like comparing short films to its feature film version, looking at conventions of short films in our genre we chose (mystery), and etc. Now that my group and I have done the research it’s finally the time to start planning for our short film. So, in this blog, I wanted to talk to you guys about the ideas our group came up with when it comes to the scheduling, location, backup plans, and etc, for our film! Schedule So, for the schedule of our movie, we want to have it completely done and submitted by March 13th. By, this date we will have all of our marketing, editing, and filming done. So, our group decided to start filming around mid February. By filming in mid February, this will allow our group leniency.
